Really?!

What?!  You’re back?!  Seriously?!  Have you learned nothing?  Check those expectations people!

Just kidding. A quick thanks to all you faithful readers. Keep on keeping on. You too Tracy!

Wise ol’ Ike

True, the first step is always the hardest.  Lucky for you, Newton nailed it with his whole “objects in motion tend to stay in motion” thingy.  So the way I see it, you just need to get crackin’.

If The Shoe Fits . . .

I’ve often heard empathy is the ability to place yourself in someone else’s shoes. That never really made sense to me.

For me, I imagine everyone wearing glasses, with each pair having a prescription that is one’s personal perspective or worldview, formed largely by everything that has happened to them up until this very moment. As you can see, no two could possibly be the same. So, in order to empathize with someone, to truly see things from their perspective, we must take off our own metaphorical glasses, and try theirs on instead. What you will find may be as expected, that no two people experience events in the exact same way.  But if you truly dive into this exercise, you will likely be surprised or even shocked at how differently from yourself people view events, experiences, and the world at large. Yet that is the key to true empathy.

Anyway, try that and see if it works for you too.  Or as they say, if the shoe fits . . .
